Journeys Piano Album 1

Journeys is a six-part series of graded solo piano repertoire written to help learners expand musically and technically into new areas.

Each album contains a wide variety of genres and moods; the series also features music from different cultures around the world. This diversity will encourage the learner to journey into unfamiliar territory, exploring new ideas and learning new musical techniques.

The 30 varied pieces in this volume include folk songs, sea shanties, pop songs, and concert pieces.

This book is ideal for players in their first and second years of learning piano. This book helps players gain confidence in playing with both hands together, legato and staccato touches, and playing chords.

The pieces are relatively undemanding to play technically, but they are not simple pieces—each piece contains unique challenges in interpretation and technique. As with all the albums, pieces are roughly arranged in order of technical difficulty.

Featured Composition: Wagon Ride

Wagon Ride is a short concert piece written in a cinematic style. The melody constantly shifts between the left and right hands.
